Titus 2:13 “Looking for the Blessed Hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Rev. 1:3 “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it: for the time is near.”
It is the Lord’s will that the Church understands and keeps the words of this prophecy. A.W. Tozer gaveto the world a rich legacy of Christian literary classics such as the ones he is most notably known for The Pursuit of God and The Knowledge of the Holy, In his book Preparing For Jesus’ Return, Tozer expresses what he felt is the primary and most important discipline in the Christian life, which is for the Church to keep their eyes focused upon the Blessed Hope, the imminent return of Jesus Christ. It is what Tozer yearned for and what he longed to see.

Throughout the history of humanity, there have been many great discoveries. I am not sure which one I would point to and say, “That is the greatest discovery in the world.” But for the hungry heart, there is but one discovery that satisfies it: the discovery of the manifest, conscious presence of God. This book you hold is an unveiling of Dr. Tozer’s most significant discovery: to understand what God’s presence in the Christian life is all about and to experience it. Dr. Tozer is a qualified guide in this pilgrimage.
One major point he makes is that one truth is not isolated from another truth. There is the harmony of the truth of God’s Word. Often Dr. Tozer will say something to the effect that it takes the entire Bible to make it the Word of God.
The basic truth that is before us is: that it is possible for us to know God in a degree of intimacy that is progressive as well as dynamic. The Apostle Paul said, “That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.” (Phil. 3:10) That is the goal that we are after: to know God in an increasing level of intimacy from day to day.

In this book, Delighting in God, which is based upon sermons Dr.Tozer preached, we see the burden of his heart. Most of the sermons associated with this book were given after the publication of The Knowledge of the Holy that has become a devotional classic. It was Dr. Tozer’s prayer and desire to live long enough to write a book on the attributes of God devotionally considered. He wanted to leave this generation an elevated concept of the great Almighty Triune God. “Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty of Thy glory.” Even though the publication of it far exceeded his expectations, he could never exhaust the theme of that book. The great passion of Tozer’s heart and ministry was for God Himself. He emphatically believed that our worship of God must be worthy of God. In order to do that, we must know who God really is. What a person thought about God was the most important thing in Tozer’s thinking. Our perception of whom and what God is, infiltrates every aspect of our lives. This applied to Tozer himself. To understand his work and ministry, you need to understand his perception of God, what he thought about God, and who God was as far as he was concerned.
Delighting in God will take you on this journey into discovering, at least in part, the wonderful attributes of God
